Underhanded Former NSA Employee Caught Selling U.S. Secrets

A Colorado man has been arrested and charged with violating the Espionage Act after attempting to sell classified information to a foreign entity.

Jareh Sebastian Dalke worked for the NSA for less than a month back in June of 2022. A few months later, he transmitted part of three documents to someone he believed worked for a foreign government. That individual was actually the FBI agent who started the process of apprehending Dalke.

According to the FBI, Dalke offered one “secret” and two “top secret” documents to the undercover agent. The agent made a prepayment of $4,800 worth of cryptocurrency before discussing further details with Dalke, who requested a total payment of $85,000 for the information.

Dalke requested a secure connection at a public location from where he could transmit the documents. After being sent to Union Station in Denver, he was arrested by the FBI. If convicted, he could the death penalty or a sentence of life in prison.
